Anyone know the family of James Ostler?

Does anyone on here remember a man named James Ostler?  He was a postman way back when but he is also the man responsible for taking many photographic images of Frankfort for decades.  His 35mm slides were shown on the wall at the Farmers Bank for years.  He is the man who took some of the images you see here on Frankfort Place.  He took the sidewalk days photos, People's Life Building, Riley, Kyger, FSHS Old Stoney, and many many more.  All of his slides had been donated to the library sometime back (no sure when).  As I had stated on the home page of Frankfort Place, the Frankfort Library has granted me persmission to use his slides for FP.

I am wanting to get a hold of a family member of his and talk to them about Mr. Ostler and put together a small biography on him and give him the credit for all of his work over the years which we are now rediscovering.  The library has hundreds if not thousands of his slides which I plan on scanning and posting on Frankfort Place.

Just want to give credit where credit is due.  This man help preserve photographically a good part of Frankfort's History.

Any help here would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your fantastic work on this website and all the photos.

I don't know anything about James Ostler's family, but I do remember him.

I recall most folks called him "Jimmy Ostler".   He was the groundskeeper and

landscape artist for some of the parks.  I often saw him working on the flowers at

Dorner's Park where I spent many a summer's day in my youth.  He was always

very nice to us kids.  Anyone remember the tree house at Dorner's Park? It was a

big old hollowed out tree trunk, big enough for small kids to climb up inside.

Jimmy introduced us to the tree house, which was under his care, and we loved it.

Thanks Butch!

I have already spoke with the grandson and James Ostler Jr. will be back from Florida after the 10th of May (which he should be back now).  I plan on giving him a call here soon and hopefully speaking with him.

Steve
