Thanks, Steve

I think this website is an excellent idea of Steve's.

To many who grew up in Frankfort, but because of opportunity or necessity had to move away, this site is an avenue in which to re-visit our old hometown.   I, for one, certainly missed it.

I left Frankfort in  September of 1962.  I thought at the time I would be moving back in the reasonably near future.  Frankfort was my home.  I didn't really know anywhere else.  But, it really did not work out that way.  I have been in Texas since 1965.  I nearly lost all contact with Frankfort over the years.  But, I never forgot the town.  I was happy in Frankfort.

About 5 years ago, an old classmate was driving thru my part of Texas when he noticed I lived nearby.  He stopped and called.  He was a mile away.  He had many photos from past class reunions and we spent the entire evening remembering old times.  I was hopelessly hooked.  I was going back to Frankfort.  I couldn't move there, but I was going to start going back.  I now try to visit twice a year.  Other old classmates come in from other parts of the country and join me there.

With this website, communication between both old and new friends, that have Frankfort as a common denominator, now exists.  We can now visit as often as we like.

My congratulations to Steve, and my congratulations to Frankfort for remaining a good place.

Ron, do you have any kindergarten pix from 1955 or '56, Miss Aughe's class? (I probably spelled her name wrong.) All those Kyger pix that are already online, and none from my classes. :(

(the next morning) Whoops...it wasn't until I looked at the list of all the people on here, and could see birthdates, that I realized that we're from slightly different generations.  My bad!

Hi, Ron.

I didn't have Miss Oak. I started kindergarten the fall of 1955 (I think--I need to look in my baby book--I was a September baby and I think I might have been held back a year, so it might have been '56). Anyway, I can tell from looking at the class photos that others have contributed that Bonnie Aughe taught at Lincoln a few years after I had her. I wish I could remember the name of my 1st grade teacher. I was traumatized (Probably just angry) one day because at recess, I was locked in the classroom while everyone else went out to play. The name Miss Jones is coming to my mind right now, but I'd have to verify that. Strange the memories we hold on to, eh?

Cherri berri-Miss Jones was my 2nd grade teacher and my 1st grade was Miss Livengood. She reminded me of Opie Tayors(Andy Griffith Show) teacher Miss Crump whom Opie had a crush on!Miss Nehr was my 3rd grade teacher. The principal,Herbert Bramell(sp) seemed to be a person.Mixed well with teachers and students.I think he left Kyger and went to South Side when it opened new.I happened to visit White,sCemetery south of Michigantown and seen a tombstone with his name on it but fail to remember what year he passed away.

I remembered that Mr. Brammell (sp?) was one of my principals, but couldn't remember from which school--Kyger or Woodside. Was Miss Jones an older, thin, spinsterish, sort of harsh teacher? (Remember, my recollection would be slightly biased, as mentioned above.) Miss Livengood doesn't sound familiar at all.

I was born in June of 47',you may have missed Miss Livengood by a year or two or she left Kyger after me.(not because of me,Ha!)Brammell was at Kyger,I believe abt K-6 and then went to Southside but not 100% sure abt that.Miss Jones was very firm but it didn't affect me!!!Back then I was afraid of all my teachers ha!If I got paddled at school and the "old man"knew it,I got one or more at home!

I know what you mean.  I actually got slapped across the face once by a teacher at Woodside.  This wasn't a light slap but a full swing.  I still remember it happening as if it was in slow motion.  I never said anything about it to my parents for I was afraid of getting it again by them at home.  However, now that I look back on it, I wish maybe I would have said something to my parents.  Getting paddled is acceptable but being slapped across the face isn't.  To this day I regret not saying anything but have forgiven the teacher who had done it.  I had forgiven her in my mind but never had said it to her in person.  Then again, she probably didn't think nothing about it and didn't care.

Do any of you know of a source that lists the teachers at the various school at various times? That would make things a lot easier. :)

P.S.: Am I the only one using an photo with my posts? I thought I saw at least one other when I joined, but I haven't see it since then.  Yeah, I like to show off my sheltie girl, but I don't want to take up too much territory on the pages.

The only idea I have would be to check with Frankfort Community Schools(?)If they are willing or have old records they could by law make public.See someone(Steve?) who might know how to access somebody who works there and see what.s legal to obtain and what's not.JUST A SHOT IN THE DARK ON MY PART!

Usually I didn't tell my parents about paddlings at school,my brothers or sister would "rat" on me sometimes! The one I remember that could really swing a mean paddle was Benson Frye Southside School. When he whacked you out in the hall the whole school heard it.Then out on the playground, the buzz was,"Did you hear that!I wonder who it was?"Well, if you survived without crying you struted around like a chicken. But if you cried(me) you kept your mouth shut!Have a good week Steve.

I remember the sound of Mr Frye's paddle from Junior High, that man could make the windows of Old Stoney rattle! I always stayed as far from that man as I could.
I remember one of the history teachers at the Jr High taking a kid and beating him in the tunnel. Granted, he was one of the "tough" kids, but he was crying when that teacher was done with him. I just ran like hell as it scared me so bad.
Does anyone remember Mrs. Redman? That woman was around forever and very unforgettable.
Cheri, I could put up a picture of my Sheltie boy and maybe we could get something going, LOL!

PJ, the only person that I remember named Redman/Redmon was a girl in my class ('68) name Lana.

Ron, I had that teacher for Math in '63-'64, but I thought her name was Miss May. I believe there were a few comments about her on the I'm a Hot Dog page on Facebook.

(PJ: I'd love to see a photo of your boy! *grin*)
